Panasonic's "Ideas for Life" slogan truly fits the bill, when talking about Panasonic's line of Home Entertainment systems. Smartly packaged, Panasonic Home Theater systems bear with them the very same Panasonic standard of quality sound with a relative dynamic easy to use interface. Panasonic Home Theater systems also boast versatility in dealing with the various media types that are predominant these days.
Panasonic Home Theater SC-PTX7
The Panasonic SC-PTX7 is what the industry calls a HDD Jukebox Home Theater system, which comes with a Hard Disk Drive for storing media from digital, as well as analog sources. The easy to connect 3.1 surround sound channel system comes with EZ Sync HDAVI Control, as well as a universal dock for portable media players, like the iPod, with recharging capabilities, other than just playing digitally compressed audio files.
The Panasonic Home Theater SC-PTX7 is basically a combination of entertainment features, easy user interactivity, as well as design excellence. It's perfect to pair with today's now standard flat-panel TV/display screen, enhancing a movie experience through the management and handling of quality sound, without the cluttered look, as most home theater systems have.
With its high capacity built-in hard drive, the Panasonic Home Theater SC-PTX7 can store hours of music in CD, MP3 and WMA file formats, eliminating the need for users to change discs. The Panasonic Home Theater SC-PTX& brings compressed audio into a new level of richness and depth.
Its speaker setup leaves no such thing as a "bad seat", as its center speaker is integrated into the left and right speakers. A movie dialogue would sound more natural, as the sound seems to just pour out from the screen, as sound effects are greatly enhanced through the utilization of Dolby virtual speaker technologies.
Expanding the Panasonic Home Theater SC-PTX7 isn't a problem. Adding Panasonic's SH-FX85 Wireless Multi-Room Speaker Kit could enhance sound quality, without wires to worry about. Picture having the main Panasonic Home Theater SC-PTX7 installed in one room, and an SH-FX85 in another, or in two other rooms. What one would have would be a "centralized" sound system in one's home. The included SH-PD10 Universal Dock for iPod, which does more than just play media files, would bring the preferred music you've got stored in your iPod to your home, sharing the music around your household.
Indeed, the Panasonic Home Theater SC-PTX7 answers to ideals in what a home theater system should be. Easy to install, easy to use, compact, with a sound quality that legendary home theater systems are made of.

The LG 32LH30 - Why You Should Make the LG 32LH30 Your Next HDTV
Okay, you've put it off long enough. Everyone's talking about how great high-definition TV looks; how sharp the picture is, how vivid the colors are. But you're still watching a ten-year-old CRT television in standard definition. It's time to take the leap into the 21st century and buy your first hi-def TV. But which brand? Which model? How much is this going to cost you? And what's so great about the LG 32LH30? Well, that's what we hope to help you answer.
Make no mistake about it, this LCD flat-panel television is an entry-level set. The price will tell you that immediately. But don't let the price mislead you. Because what it won't tell you is all the features included in the LG 32LH30 that are not normally found at this price point, and why we think it stands out as a steal among flat-panel LCD televisions. It's the reason we decided to write a 32LH30 review.
For starters, you get a full 1080p high-definition picture. That won't always matter with cable or broadcast channels, as most don't transmit in that format, but you're going to love the way it looks when you watch your favorite movie on BluRay DVD. The pictures are stunning.
You get a full complement of the most important input/output ports. There are three HDMI ports to allow you the highest quality hook up for components using only one cable for both audio and video. HDMI is a godsend.
You'll also get HD component and composite video inputs as well as an input for your PC and an RS-232 control port, not typical on an entry-level flat panel. The only thing missing here, and it's a fairly minor quibble, is an S-video input.
There are multiple analog AV inputs with composite video, so you don't need to throw out all those pre high-def audio/video components, plus an optical digital audio output to plug into your home theater amplifier. All in all, a very impressive set of "holes" for a TV with this price tag.
LG has also included some technologies from it upscale models, including 24p Real Cinema, 20W Dolby Digital audio with SRS TruSurround XT, a 50,000:1 Dynamic Contrast Ratio, and a smart energy saving option that complies with the new Energy Star 3.0 specification.
LG's proprietary Picture Wizard provides extensive picture controls to produce accurate color rendition. Quick AV Mode II allows instant selection from three different AV modes: cinema, sports, or games. Your home computer or game console has never looked so good!
The "32" in LG32LH30 tells you that this is a 32 inch (diagonally measured) screen. That's the perfect size for a small to medium sized den or living room, and for any but the smallest bedroom. The glossy black thin design is clean and modern, and comes with a matching table-top swivel stand. The speakers are invisible, presenting a very sleek look. This panel can also be wall or ceiling mounted using an optional bracket.
LG has brought together a feature set and an exceptional level of quality you would expect only from a more expensive high-def television. If your mission is to get into high definition, with a quality LCD flat-panel television, but without offering up your first-born to acquire it, then you owe it to yourself to check out the LG 32LH30. It offers outstanding picture and sound quality, uncommon connectivity, and a price tag that belies all of the above. LG has created a winner.

How does HDTV work?
The use of HDTV (High Definition Television) is increasing in the United States, Australia, and Japan.
How is this different from a standard TV? The main differences between HDTV and the standard TV are higher picture resolution, multi-channel audio, and a wide screen 16:9 aspect ratio. This means sharper and clearer pictures along with accurate and detailed sound.
How do the various HDTV models differ?
Some models can deliver images that are up to six times sharper than what the standard televisions display. The images we see on a television are made up of horizontal lines. These lines are scanned continuously to form an image. The standard television typically has 480 lines. In comparison, HDTV can contain 1080 lines. Unlike standard TVs, HDTV does not scan one line at a time to make the image, but delivers the whole image at once. This results in much greater detail and more realistic colors.
Aspect ratio is another difference between standard TVs and HDTV. Current day TVs use an aspect ratio of 4:3, making them look almost square. This is rapidly being replaced by the HDTV aspect ratio of 16:9. The bigger aspect ratio results in a wider screen. Due to increasing popularity of home theater systems, HDTV uses the same aspect as the screen in a movie theater. A wide screen means that the TV does not have to cut off the sides when you are watching your DVDs.
Another movie theater influence in HDTV is that audio is now presented using the Dolby Digital Standard. Currently, surround sound involves tricks to simulate the origin of audio. With the Dolby Digital Standard, the audio experience is as thrilling as the video.
Do I need any additional 'stuff' with an HDTV?
A special receiver is needed to view programs in HD format. There are many choices available in the market today. The safest choice is to get a receiver that can accept HD format as well as standard format. This can become important because not all programs are currently available in HD. Simply connect the receiver into your HDTV and you are on. With the rise in the popularity of HDTV, the number of programs available has also been steadily increasing.
Another result of this widespread use is that the HDTV’s are quite inexpensive. Some networks have packages that include HDTV for as little as $50 a month. Since the trend has caught on and is making money, it is only natural that more and more options will soon be available to consumers. Within a year or so, HDTV could be available at the same cost as that of standard TV today.

Panasonic Viera TV Review
Freedom from wires is possible on some Panasonic Viera HD TVs. Wireless technology provided by the Viera enables viewers to enjoy 5.1 channel surround sound and latency free, uncompressed streaming. All of this is produced in full HD, without the mess of wires.
When viewers require the purest blacks and brightest whites, Panasonic Viera LCD televisions deliver. The deep blacks and pure whites afforded by the Panasonic Viera are attained by a contrast ratio of 2,000,000:1. While this ratio is standard in other HD plasma televisions, the Panasonic Viera places itself heads above the competition with its "Intelligent Scene Controller". This state-of-the-art technology is standard on the Viera and controls the contrast and brightness of the screen's backlight based on what scene is being viewed onscreen. Amazing is only one word that can adequately describe the vibrant contrast the Panasonic Viera television delivers.
The best viewing area in a room that has a Panasonic television is, quite simply, anywhere. No matter where you stand or sit, the Viera plasma produces an amazing view. Plasma panels that are self-lit yield an amazing image that has beautiful colors and high-contrast from any viewing angle. The magic is in the IPS Alpha Panel and the 178° viewing angle. These two factors make the amazing difference between light and dark. Regardless of your position in a room with a Viera TV, you will be afforded the best view in the house.
When you watch HD quality video on a Panasonic Viera, you are experiencing award-winning technology. That technology is "V". Motion is smoother and picture quality is high in its clarity with "V" technology, all of which is achieved without loss of quality in the color.
Movie lovers will enjoy the THX quality in select Panasonic LCD or plasma TV. THX standards are the highest in the industry and ensure exacting quality in the reproduction of video and audio. Certain Panasonic Viera TVs meet the high level of quality control required to be THX certified.
Gamers will appreciate "Game Mode", a standard on all Viera LCD and plasma televisions. Speedy response on the most visually intense games will provide hours of excellent game play. High-speed response rates are inherent to Viera televisions as is their high efficiency. The 0.001 millisecond response rate featured in the Panasonic Viera plasma is 1,000 times faster than the competition and, as a result, screen motion and high definition details maintain themselves with no loss.
If you are a photographer or videographer you'll revel in the "Viera Image Viewer" function on all Panasonic Viera HD plasma televisions. This function gives viewers the ability to insert their SD card and enjoy photos or home movies exactly as they were captured on their digital camera or Panasonic HD camcorder.
If you have avid gamers who tend to get a bit excited while gaming or small children who are just learning to walk, you will enjoy the fact that the Viera HD screen can handle impacts of four joules.

Samsung LCD TV Reviews
Samsung has various high definition televisions that have outstanding picture quality and speakers that give the illusion of surround sound. Some of the best televisions Samsung has to offer include the Samsung 26 inch LCD TV, the Samsung 32 inch LCD TV, and the Samsung 40 inch LCD TV. All three of these televisions contain great features and one of these televisions will definitely be a great fit in your home.
The Samsung 26 inch LCD TV has many features that make it an outstanding product. This flat-panel television produces clear and crisp scenes due to a contrast ratio of 4000:1. With a 160 degree viewing angle, this television provides you with an enjoyable viewing experience. High quality speakers are already inserted in the Samsung 26 in. LCD TV. These speakers provide an illusion of surround sound which means you don't have to go out and buy additional speakers. Therefore this television is a great money saver. Don't be fooled by the small size of the television. Although it isnt as big as its counterparts, the Samsung 26 in. LCD television fills up a room with ease and allows everyone to view it without strain. Its small size makes it extremely portable and it can be mounted on a stand or even on the wall. You can even plug your computer into it and view movies and music on the product itself.
The Samsung 32 inch LCD TV is sleek and slim and includes many features that make it one of the best Samsung has to offer. The picture quality of this television is simply outstanding. The screen possesses high resolution quality and displayed images appear incredibly realistic. The 32 in. LCD TV is attached to a swivel base which allows you to easily adjust the angle of view, twenty degrees to the left or right respectively, to suit your personal preference. There are ten watt speakers already built in to the Samsung 32 in. LCD television which provides outstanding sound quality that add an enjoyable viewing experience. This television also provides a virtual surround sound so it is also a great money saver. The screen can also function as a computer monitor so you also don't have to waste money buying a monitor. This feature also allows you to play video games on an HDTV which provides a unreal gaming experience. The Samsung 40 inch LCD TV is larger than the previous two products and provides a much crisper and clearer screen. It has a contrast ratio of 30,000:1 which creates fantastic picture quality. Even the darkest scenes appear bright on the screen, and the color is much richer. The picture quality is as good as much more expensive televisions such as plasmas. I always hated when my old television would do this and since I hooked up the Samsung 40 in. LCD TV I haven't missed a thing. This television contains two more hdmi plugins than the previous two televisions, making a grand total of four. These plugins allow you to connect your surround sound, mp3 player, digital camera, dvd player, and other electronics. The ability to plugin four different things at once makes the Samsung 40 in. How an AV Receiver Fits Into Your Home Theater System
The home theater receiver or AV receiver, as some would term it, is the central unit of your home theater system. Without it, all your other components would probably not be able to deliver. The receiver receives input so you won't have to purchase components such as the Preamp, Tuner and multi-channel amplifier, separately to give output.
The receiver typically does what the Preamp, Tuner and multi-channel amplifier do and certainly not by compromising quality. You will still be looking at the same quality if you had purchased all three components individually, but one thing's for sure, you definitely save quite a bit with buying just a receiver to do the job.
For those who are mindful of their budget and expenditure, a receiver would certainly serve them well. On the other hand, for those who have the capacity to and wish to splurge thousands on their home theater system, are certainly free to buy each component separately.
So what should you be looking out for in a home theater receiver?
Between a wireless receiver and a regular one, there are differences and you are sure to see the pros and cons with each one. Hence, you will need to find out as much as you can about them before you head out to the nearest electronics store, shopping for a receiver.
Also, when it comes to wattage, do not allow yourself to be fooled by the numbers on the side of the receiver box. Though watts are important, it is always true that a receiver with a higher wattage indicates more power and better sound quality. You will then have to consider other factors such as the distortion factor, which means the louder the decibels, the less clearly you can hear what's being played.
A receiver is built to work together with the other components in your home theater system and you will be certain to want good and clear sound from the receiver you are about to spend hardearned money on. Therefore, be sure to consider the signal to noise ratio, instead of just the wattage. The signal to noise ratio allows you to compare the signal to the background noise.
You will also want to pay attention to a receiver's ability to decode the latest audio codecs like Dolby TrueHD and DTS Master Audio which are the best sounding audio codecs now. Before you spend any money on a home theater receiver, do your homework. Check product reviews and make sure that you're getting the best your money can buy. Make sure you take the time to check out how the receiver handles before you buy.

Panasonic VIERA G10 Series TC-P42G10 42-Inch 1080p Plasma HDTV

LCD TVs seems to be very popular these days but my ultimate choice for HDTVs are Plasma TVs. Experts would agree that Plasma produce greater picture quality compared to LCD TVs. The contrast ratio and quality of blacks on Plasma TVs are far greater than LCD TVs. One of the reason LCD TVs became so popular is that their prices fell much quicker than Plasma TVs. But today, that factor is no longer relevant as the prices of both types of HDTVs are similar.
One of the best and most popular models of Plasma TVs in the market currently is the Panasonic VIERA G10 TC-P42G10 42-Inch Plasma TV. For the past few years, Panasonic (one of the oldest manufacturer of electronics in the world) has specialized in producing Plasma televisions. This latest model is nothing short but a work of art.
The design of the Panasonic VIERA G10 TC-P42G10 42-Inch Plasma TV is one of my favorite features. Its black frame has a high-gloss surface and sleek curves, giving it a very modern look and adding to its 'cool' factor. It has a clean and minimalist look with only a tiny red light on during stand by mode.
The VIERA Cast is one of my favorite features on the G10 TC-P42G10 . Once connected to the web, you can enjoy real time news, weather information and other web content on the internet. The remote control is also surprisingly easy to use and the menu navigation is a breeze.
The contrast ratio on the G10 TC-P42G10 is 2'000'000:1, far greater than any LCD TV in existence. Because of this high contrast ration, the quality of blacks on the screen is simply amazing. My last TV was a LCD TV from Sony's Bravia series. The blacks on the LCD screen werenever truly black, but a dark shade of dark gray. Watching DVD and Blu-ray videos on the VIERA is just simply jaw dropping.

Panasonic DMP-BD60 1080p Blu-ray Disc Player
As a writer for a local technology publication, I have had the privilege of testing and reviewing tones of consumer electronics. The Blu-ray movie format looks set to take over DVDs and major manufacturers like Panasonic, Sony, LG and Samsung are already in the race to produce the best Blu-ray players. At the time of writing, I personally feel that the Panasonic DMP-BD60 1080p Blu-ray disc player is leading the race. The Panasonic DMP-BD60 1080p Blu-ray disc player may not be the cheapest model in the market. Then again it is so much more than just a Blu-ray player. I have tested a couple of Blu-ray movies on this player with Panasonic's VIERA plasma television and visuals produced were just jaw dropping. The details were so clear that we were able to catch the imperfections on the actor's makeup. It also did a pretty good job at up-converting DVD movies. Thanks to its 1080/24p output, the DVD playbacks on this player were much clearer and sharper compared to when played on regular DVD players.
The Panasonic DMP-BD60 1080p Blu-ray disc player output also has an Ethernet port that you can use to connect the player to the internet. Once connected to the internet, you will be able access a whole variety of online content through the VIERA cast features. You can use to player to view videos on YouTube and images on Picasa. Soon, you will be able to gain access to Amazon's Video on Demand. The Panasonic DMP-BD60 1080p Blu-ray disc player is also a very energy efficient model, consuming 16% less energy than its predecessor model.

Canon Vixia HF20 HD Camcorder Review
The Canon Vixia HF20 is currently one of the best consumer HD camcorders that money can buy. It is a full-featured model that gives the user great versatility in recording HD videos. Like most full-featured camcorders, this model's size is far from those of the Flip UltraHD pocket camcorders. The HF20 measures at 2.8 x 2.5 x 4.9 inches and weighs 13.9 ounces. Nevertheless, it was very comfortable to hold on to with very well placed control buttons.
For previewing your videos, there is a 2.70inch LCD display. Most of the controls shows up on the LCD screen. The change between user interfaces is now smoother than the older models and you can even choose the font size on the display. The videos recorded can be either stored in its 32GB internal flash memory or straight into a SDHC memory card. This model has a 15x optical zoom and SuperRange optical image stabilization that works really well on even on close-ups.
The quality of the HD videos and performance of the Canon Vixia HF20 camcorder is top notch. The camcorder focuses accurately and quickly even in dim lighting conditions. For the best video quality, Canon has recommended the use of a Class 4 (or higher) SDHC memory card. Considering the size of the lens, the video quality was excellent with great exposures, well-saturated colors and very realistic images. The quality of the still photos was also very good. Currently, the Canon Vixia HF20 HD camcorder retails for around $625 each, which is a little more expensive that usual. Considering its great performance, the wide array of manual features and excellent HD video quality, this camcorder is definitely worth the buy!

Panasonic Viera X1 Series TC L26X1 LCD HDTV Review

When you're looking for a 26 inch LCD television, the Panasonic VIERA X1 Series TC L26X1 26-Inch 720p LCD HDTV might be the way to go. The ability to get a good deal because of all the low-cost sites on the internet is one selling feature.
Some units can't be found at prices much lower than the list price. Panasonic has always been close to the quality of Sony or Samsung, two of the best in the field. It's a nice small size if you're buying it for a kitchen, or a small living room.
Here are some more of the Panasonic VIERA X1 Series TC L26X1 pros:
1. If you're not familiar with either HD, or the new LCD televisions, the instruction manual will be quite informative. What with all the changes to HD, people who don't understand the difference might still be confounded, I know my father is.
2. It's iPod doc lets you plug right in, allowing you to display movies and videos that might be in the ipod, greatly expanding the quality and size of the unit. The amazing sound quality blasts from the unit with force, as if you're right there.
3. The HD picture is excellent for it being such a small screen. It has 780p capability, which is handy and it has a very simple setup.
I wish that these units started coming with universal remotes instead of these annoying 'Everybody has seventeen remotes' units. That way you could thank them for removing the need to have that many remotes. Wouldn't that be nice if they did that? But, it has buttons that are well-arranged and the menus are easy to understand and maneuver through. Because there's a digital tuner, that lets you select the channels quickly and the automatic search works well.
If you have photos on an SD card, it will create a slideshow of the images, which is a kind of nice feature.
In all honesty, the Panasonic VIERA TC L26X1 model does some cons:
1. As with other LCD TVs, the angle of view sometimes isn't as wide as you'd like it to be. Once you've gone past a certain point, the image loses quality and then disappears. There's no way of attaching headphones, so if you're using it in the bedroom, you're going to keep up the other person unnecessarily.
2. It would have been nice if they had installed the speakers on the front of the TV as the sound would have been better. To have the sound bounce off the back wall is annoying, and gives a muffled sound to the result.
3. The front face of the TV is gloss, which means that any lights or windows will be reflected. Also, just like with some netbooks, that kind of surface attracts fingerprints.
All-in-all, the Panasonic VIERA X1 Series TC L26X1 26-Inch 720p LCD HDTV is a good quality 26" LCD TV, that will look attractive in your room without taking up much space. It could easily be placed on a night stand, or next to you as you're working at your computer desk so you wouldn't miss your favorite shows when you're working on the computer. You'll be surprised at the quality the audio affords, and it has a pleasing sleek design.

Plasma HDTV 1080p - How Long Will Your TV Set Last?
If you are planning to replace your old tube TV with a fancy plasma HDTV but feel worried about the stories of "plasma's burn-in and lifespan issues" here is what you need to know. The latest plasma technology used by reputable manufacturers has the lifespan projections equal to those of LCD screens, which is about 60,000 hours. Depending on your daily usage this may translate to anywhere between 12 and 55 years.
Early versions of plasma displays had an annoying flow - the dreaded "burn-in" or "ghost image" effect. This problem was caused by an ongoing presence of static images such as network logos and browser frames, which over time resulted in permanent damage to the corresponding pixels on the screen. The "burn in" effect has to do with the properties of phosphor used in plasma technology and the way it reacts to light and electrical impulses.
Fortunately, quality manufactures have been working hard to eliminate this effect. In fact, the best brands currently claim to have the burn-in resistance equal to that of a standard CRT screen. This has been made possible by advances in plasma technology such as the use of green phosphor (more resistant to burn-in) and motion adaptive technology. The latter prevents the burn-in effect through microscopic image movements (invisible to the human eye) that prevent static images from etching into the screen.
Plasma HDTV 1080p represents the latest advance in the TV technology. So if you are planning to invest in one here are some important tips for maximizing its lifespan:
1. Plasma monitors are generally more prone to burn-in during the first 200 hours of use. During this time (and even after) it is recommended that you avoid displaying static images for more than an hour. Avoid pausing your DVDs for more than 20 minutes at a time and remember to turn the unit off when not in use.
2. Read your TV's User's Manual and become familiar with its anti-burn-in features. Such features may include running pure gray or white screen settings ("blank screen") to recalibrate the pixels and erase any potential burn-in. This is particularly recommended after the first 100 hours of use and than later, from time to time, based on your usage type. Make sure to follow the anti-burn-in instructions for video games and other static content.
3. Watch everything in full-screen mode to avoid prolonged presence of static black areas around the active frame.
4. Instead of using the manufacturer's default contrast setting, which is usually set to 100%, reduce it to 50% - especially during the first 200 hours of use. The only times when you might feel the need to up the contrast to high is in a brightly lit room. To prevent this, turn the unnecessary lights off and use other practical ways to darken the room while you are watching your plasma TV. Reduce the brightness setting on your TV accordingly (remember "lower is better" for your screen's longevity).
5. Equipment tests have shown that some brands are more resistant to burn-in than others. The top performers include NEC, Sony, Pioneer, and Panasonic. The technology used by Hitachi and Fujitsu (AliS panel type) seems to be more affected with burn-in problems. Also, secondary (less known) brands could be affected with the same problem due to the less advanced technology.
6. Make sure there is sufficient space around your screen to prevent the unit from overheating. Keep it in a well ventilated area.

Blu-ray VS DVD
So why buy Blu-ray? My DVD player and disc works just fine. And isn't the DVD format one of the most successful stories in consumer history since it only took DVD a few years to completely destroy the mighty VHS and conquer the home video market. So why should I change?
The simple answer is this: Blu-ray has a better picture, better sound quality and more special interactive features. You get all of this with little change in how you actually watch your movies at home because the Blu-ray disc's physical appearance is the same as a DVD or CD, and also the blu-ray player looks the same as any DVD player. Even the Blu-ray display menus is basically what you are use to with DVD menus. Granted, with this new technology comes some new terms like 1080p and blu-ray profiles. It can get a little frustrating, but really all you need to do is insert a Blu-ray disc into a blu-ray player and watch. Just like you would with a DVD, except now your watching movies in glorious High Definition.
The main selling feature of the blu-ray format is it has five times more storage capacity than DVDs. It can hold 25GB (single layer) and 50 GB (dual layer), which allows for recording, rewriting and playback of high-definition video. On a Dual Layer Disc you get over 9 hours of high-definition (HD) video on a 50GB disc and over 22 hours of standard-definition (SD) video on a 50GB disc, whereas a DVD disc can only hold about 8GB of data, far less then a blu-ray disc.
So the question that should be asked is not why should I change to a Blu-ray player, but rather why not change? The Blu-ray disc offers superior picture, sound and special features. And most leading companies now produce players that will read CDs, DVDs and Blu-ray. They also have a feature called 'upscaling DVD'. The blu-ray player will convert your DVD discs, which have standard DVD resolution (480i), to High Definition standards (720i-1080i). But this upconversion is not the same as a Blu-ray image because it is not as detailed or life-like as a high definition blu-ray image.
The blu-ray disc also offers you bonus views and BD-live, where you can get extra online content such as updated movie trailers and interactive online games. The fact is, since the dismissal of the HD-DVD format, Blu-ray disc is the strongest competitor in the world of High Definition. To get the most viewing pleasure from your HDTV, Blu-ray disc will always come out on top over DVD discs.

Review of the Panasonic Lumix DMC-GF1

Even after narrowing down the search to a particular class, it can still be difficult to find the right digital camera to suit your needs. For those who want an interchangeable lens compact camera, the Panasonic Lumix DMC-GF1 might be a good choice.
The Panasonic Lumix DMC-GF1 is a 12.2 megapixel camera that is available with a 20mm lens or with a 14 to 45mm lens. An optional viewfinder is also available but is sold separately. The camera features optical image stabilization as well as a wide range of flexible features, including a seven-frame bracketing option, custom settings, direct access shooting controls, and setting change previews. It supports continuous AF during movie capture, powers up quickly, and offers a competitive continuous shooting rate. It also offers good battery life (rated at 350 shots or two and a half hours of video) and a fast autofocus system.
However, the Panasonic Lumix DMC-GF1 features below-average movie quality in 720p that does not scale well to full screen video. In addition, there is a tendency for scene elements to look digital, making the photo quality a tad under par. The lack of an optical viewfinder (which must be purchased separately) can make it difficult to keep subjects in the frame. It is not well-suited for taking action shots or for shooting in low light.
Overall, the Panasonic Lumix DMC-GF1 is a great choice among interchangeable lens compact cameras in its class. It offers solid performance and photo quality with a user-friendly design.

Panasonic Lumix DMC FS15 Review
The Panasonic Lumix DMC FS15 sits somewhere in the middle bracket of pocket sized digital cameras when it comes to price. So the big question is why should you pay the extra money for the Lumix DMC FS15 instead of buying a cheaper option you might be able to find if you take a look around. This is a 12 megapixel digital camera with a 5x zoom lens. This is certainly a greater number of pixels than you will find on more basic and therefore cheaper models. But do you really need the extra pixels? 6 megapixels is plenty for snapshot sized prints and a bit above. In fact 3 megapixels will do just fine for 6 x 4 inch prints. In this case there are two main advantages to all these extra megapixels. To start with it gives you the flexibility to crop photos and still have a large enough image to make a smaller print.
For me it is the second advantage of these extra megapixels that is of most interest. Panasonic include a feature called extra zoom on most of their digital cameras. This is available on the Lumix DMC FS15. Extra zoom becomes available when you elect to take pictures at a lower resolution. The maximum amount of zoom can be increased to a maximum of 9.8x when shooting at 3 megapixels and lower. That is an impressive amount of zoom for a pocket digital camera.
The lens has wide angle capabilities. Again this is a feature that you might struggle to find at the cheaper end of the market although there are one or two cheaper digital cameras offering this feature. A wide angle lens gives you the ability to photograph wide scenes. So this is likely to be more attractive to you if you regularly take pictures of sweeping landscapes, groups of people or wide buildings.
Outside of these features The Lumix DMC FS15 offers a few extra features that you do not always find in a camera in this class. These include image stabilisation, a 2.7 inch LCD screen and continuous shooting options. Another area Panasonic are pushing hard is the intelligent auto mode. In terms of what you need to do to activate it, it is not that different to the standard automatic mode. The idea behind it is that the camera attempts to identify common scenes, any motion in the scene you are photographing and the type of lighting in effect. This all sounds good, but it is not really all that different to how the standard automatic mode is meant to work!
When it comes to ease of use the Lumix DMC FS15 is quite straightforward. The main menu runs to three screens, with the set up menu running to four. There are two ways of looking at this. First there are plenty of features to get your teeth into. The second is that it will take a while to master all the options at your disposal.
The design of the camera is not that different to a multitude of other digital cameras. It is available in three colours: silver, blue and black. At around 21mm wide it is not as slim as the very slimmest digital cameras, but it is still small enough to slip into almost any pocket.
There is plenty of choice when it comes to pocket cameras like this one. Panasonic themselves offer a number of similar cameras. If you do not think you will make the most of the wide angle lens or the number of megapixels on offer then it is worth taking a look at the Panasonic Lumix DMC FS6. This camera has the majority of features this camera has, but you can make a significant saving on the price.

The Magic of Full HDTV
The Full HDTV is now the 'in thing' in television talk. This modern television standard is also referred to as 'UltraHD' and 1080p. The type of technology that goes into making this television produces higher video quality and sharpness than that of the older high-definition televisions which were simply called HDTV or HD Ready. This superior level of television provides a picture resolution of 1920 X 1080 pixels.
The old HDTV technology only has vertical resolution count from 720 lines and a progressive scanning ability of 720p up to 1080 lines with an interlaced scanning. On the other hand, the Full HDTV now provides 1080 lines with progressive scanning that can be called 1080p. These mentioned figures represent the given number of horizontal lines that can be found in a full raster. The p therefore denotes the progressive scanning; with one particular scan displaying each line in the image raster being counted from up down, and (i) in turn is referring to the interlaced scanning whereby every scan shows alternate lines in the picture raster. The result is that two scans will be therefore needed to complete the desired picture.
The greater power of progressive scanning is seen when producing 'full motion' video pictures in that less flicker or jitter is experienced, this is especially apparent when handling diagonal or vertical moving objects across the screen.
The better quality is also more noticeable when displaying images that move at high speed like sports coverage, computer games and DVD movies. The proof of 1080p Full HDTV can is reflected in the fact that the standard is now the benchmark for Full HDLCD TV and Plasma TV.
The high quality of images produced by full HDTVs qualify them as the pinnacle of television standards which when added to the extra-large screen that is in the modern day home theater systems make them a must have accessory at whatever cost.

Know the Difference Between LCD, Plasma, HDTV, LED, and OLED
There are many technologies emerging in display devices like TVs. Every technology excels in particular feature of display and has particular method of display. Different technologies used in TVs are:
LCD TV:
LCD (Liquid Crystal Display) televisions are thinner and lighter and provide much sharper and clearer picture than CRTs of similar size. They are ideally used for cell phone displays, computer monitors, and to view still images. LCD TVs have a flat screen so there will be no picture distortion and don't have screen "burn in" like curved tube TVs. In general, LCD viewing angle is 175 degrees. The picture can be viewed 87 degrees from each side. LCD TVs are very economical to use and screens less than 35 are fairly inexpensive. LCD TVs are backlit and blocks outside light. So, they are suitable for natural lighting situations. Most LCD TVs have a half lifespan (50% of original brightness) of over 30,000 hours (16 years of viewing at 6 hours per day). LCD sizes generally range from 13 to 65 but some manufacturer will offer up to 100 sizes.
Plasma TV:
A Plasma Display Panel (PDP) is a flat panel display used in large TV displays. They have better and accurate color generation than LCDs, and with far display, wider viewing angles, and do not experience degradation at high angles compared to LCD. Plasma displays are ideal for viewing motion video in large displays.
· Plasma screen sizes generally ranges from 32 to 84 but some offer screen sizes up to 100.
· Plasma pixel, technology provides a brighter picture with more contrast between the blacks and whites than standard TV.

HDTV:
HDTV or High-Definition Television is a digital television broadcasting system offering a higher resolution compared to regular television systems. HDTV is digitally broadcast unlike earlier analog broadcasting, because digital television (DTV) signals require reduced bandwidth because of digital video compression.
HDTV will not have standard TV problems, like low quality sharpness, troubles with brightness or contrast, spots, other visual, or audio imperfections, problems like double images (ghosting), and weak signals. HD television provides clearer pictures with excellent sound quality, a wider viewing screen and up-to-date scanning. HDTV will provide more and superior channels provided by regular satellite or cable television with theater system experience.
LED TV:
LED (Light Emitting Diode) TV is an LCD TV that uses LEDs for back lighting, instead of using the fluorescent lights (as it creates more black spots). They are ideally used for low-energy indicators, as substitutes for traditional light sources in general lighting and automotive lighting.

· In OLED TVs, there is no need for backlights or extra heaters or coolers, so there is less power consumption.
· As OLED materials has the capacity to support full spectrum of visible light, so there will be higher contrast and it has high-speed refresh rates.
· OLEDs are much faster than LCDs. Fast motion and quick eye movement pictures are more realistic. And OLED TVs will make virtual images to look realistic and can be viewed easily for longer periods.
· It has larger viewing angle and for near-eye applications, it provides more pleasant viewing without distortion.
One disadvantage with OLED TVs is the limited lifespan of the organic materials used in its manufacturing. In addition, blue light degrades quickly with a lifespan of 14,000 hours (when used 8 hours per day for five years) on flat-panel displays.
Before purchasing a television, know the difference between each technology and purchase the one, which has your desired features and suits your budget.

The players available on sale are usually the most basic type of players and range between $100 and $200.
But if you expect more than just the basic functions from your player than it is not an option for you. This means you are in to internet streaming videos. Netflix, CinemaNow and YouTube provide the streaming services of the movies in a player. If you want to avail this exciting feature of internet movie watching than it would require $50 to $100 in addition to the price of the basic player.
